Anthime Joseph Gionet, a far-right media personality nicknamed “Baked Alaska”, who is known for honoring himself by participating in illegal activities, was arrested by the FBI on Friday and accused of illegally breaking into the Capitol during the attack on the building by supporters of President Trump earlier this month.
Gionet, who was banned from Twitter and YouTube for his content, broadcast live in the crowd on DLive, a streaming service that became more popular after a mass exodus of right-wing figures from more conventional platforms. He posted a video showing President Trump supporters taking selfies with Capitol officials, who calmly asked them to leave. The video showed Trump supporters talking to each other, laughing and saying to officials and each other, “This is just the beginning.”
Gionet was arrested in Houston on Friday, according to the Justice Department website, and charged with two federal crimes. In a lawsuit, Nicole Miller, an FBI agent, said that Gionet recorded a 27-minute live video in which he appeared to shout “The patriots are in control” and says “We are in the Capitol building, 1776 will start again.”
More than 70 arrests have been made in connection with the disturbances and at least 170 cases have been opened. Many of the crowd’s participants were easily identified through their social media posts.
Emily Hernandez, a woman photographed with part of the wooden plaque pulled from the entrance to Mayor Nancy Pelosi’s office, was arrested and charged in federal court on Friday, according to The Kansas City Star.
Hernandez was seen in several videos and photos holding Pelosi’s shattered nameplate as a valuable keepsake. According to FBI documents, they received tips on Ms. Hernandez from her friends and acquaintances after she posted photos and videos of her parading with the nameplate on Facebook and Snapchat.
Jenna Ryan, a real estate agent in Frisco, Texas, who took a private plane to Washington to join the mafia, was also charged on Friday. She was easily identified after she posted about her participation in several ways, including live-dreaming on the Capitol saying, “Life or death, it doesn’t matter. Here we go.”
Then, just before entering, she turned to the camera and said: “You know who to hire for your realtor. Jenna Ryan for her realtor. “
