Country music stars and Nashville’s professional sports teams shared their reactions on Christmas Day after a shocking explosion in the Tennessee capital interrupted what many hoped would be a peaceful holiday with loved ones.
Those who shared their ideas on social media include singers Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, as well as Carly Pearce, Chris Janson and the band Old Dominion.
The Tennessee Titans of the NFL, who call Nashville home, and the Nashville Predators, of the NHL, also expressed support for the city and its first aid.
Some hashtags used, like #NashvilleStrong and #TennesseeTough.

“Difficult year for Nashville,” Paisley wrote in an Instagram message. “Be safe, everyone. #Merrychristmas Duet with @kevinnealon.”
Underwood focused on the holiday and the first respondents in his Twitter message.
“Merry Christmas everyone!” she wrote. “And a big thanks to all the brave first responders in Nashville this morning.”
Pearce was apparently upset by the images of the explosion that appeared in reports.
“Sending all my love to Nashville this morning,” she wrote. “These videos are absolutely terrifying. A horrible act, especially on Christmas morning.”
Little Big Town, who lives in Nashville, praised the first respondents, citing their dedication and bravery, tweeting: “Merry Christmas! Thinking of our beautiful hometown, we love it so much. We are very grateful to our first respondents for their dedication and bravery. Our prayers and love are with all those who serve our community. #NashvilleStrong. “
Chris Janson used a three-word tweet to express his thoughts: “Praying for Nashville”.
The Tennessee Titans, who play east of downtown Nashville at Nissan Stadium, tweeted, “Praying for our city and the first respondents at the blast site this morning. Nashville has been through a lot this year. We will recover together, stronger and tougher. #TennesseeTough “
The Nashville Predators of the NHL also praised the first respondents and their other neighbors in the city. The team, playing their hockey games at the Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville, tweeted, “Thanks to the first respondents and everyone who helped our friends and neighbors downtown this morning. #NashvilleStrong.”
In addition, the Music City Grand Prix tweeted, “Thoughts and prayers for Nashville. We are completely devastated by the horrible downtown explosion this morning. Thankful for the first respondents on the scene this Christmas morning. #Prayfornashville.”
Nashville’s Major League Soccer team, Nashville SC, tweeted their support for city police and residents, saying, “Our thoughts are with those affected by the explosion in downtown Nashville this morning and with the first respondents working tirelessly to keep our safe city. Now more than ever, #NGUOY (Never giving up on you). “

Actor Russell Crowe is a native of New Zealand, but he also tweeted his support for Nashville, saying, “Reading about Nashville. Thinking of all the golden-hearted people of the great state of Tennessee this morning.”
