Epic Games is doubling its strategy of signing agreements with developers to bring its games to the Epic Games Store as complete or timed exclusives.

A spokesman told PC Gamer that Epic has more exclusives on the way in 2021/2022 than it has ever had in total. “We have more exclusive articles coming in the next two years than we have published so far,” said a spokesman.

PC Gamer estimates that there have been more than 100 titles released on the Epic Games Store as exclusive in one way or another since the launch of the platform in 2018.

The site reported that there are about 21 titles that have been announced as exclusive to the Epic Games Store, but have yet to be released, so it looks like there will be many, many other ads in the future to fill the gap.

Some of the next EGS exclusives we know include Oddworld Soulstorm, Saturnalia and The Wolf Among Us 2, as well as upcoming Remedy, Playdead and genDesign games.

In 2020, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said that the search for Epic exclusives, while controversial, was very successful for Epic. The exclusives generated huge revenue for the nascent game store and helped it take off. Sweeney was open to discussing how Epic will continue to pay for exclusivity to continue to eat on the Steam market and expand its own store.

Even without paying a developer to bring their game exclusively to the Epic Games Store, developers are already encouraged to do so due to the store’s developer-friendly recipe sharing mode. Epic gets just 12% of game sales, returning 88% to studios. This percentage is much more favorable than the traditional 70/30 revenue share that exists on Steam and other PC and console platforms, as well as iOS.

Another strategy that Epic employed to help bring people to the Epic Games Store is to distribute games for free – and this great offer will continue into 2021.
