The second night of the two-week Smash editions of Dynamite’s New Year’s AEW will feature the return of The Elite after a shocking ending to Wednesday’s show.
For the first time since Fight For The Fallen in July, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and Doubles Champions, The Young Bucks, will gather for a six-man fight against opponents to be named. Omega retained his title on Wednesday against Rey Fenix and joined the Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers in an attack on Jon Moxley after Moxley left to help Fenix.
After several AEW fighters tried unsuccessfully to stop the attack, the Bucks came out and spoke to the trio. Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr. grabbed Omega from behind, but Matt Jackson and Gallows hit them, prompting the group to launch “Too Sweet” gestures together to close the show.
More was announced for the end of the recorded Smash next Wednesday:
- Serena Deeb will defend the NWA women’s title against Tay Conti, who will be cornered by Anna Jay of the Order of Darkness.
- Dr. Britt Baker will bring her Waiting Room segment to Dynamite for the first time with Cody Rhodes as her guest.
- In a move made to a previously announced game, Chuck Taylor will face Miro, but if Taylor loses, he has to be Miro’s “boy” even after Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford were married in the February Beach Break edition of Dynamite.
- In another change that occurred in a backstage segment, Marko Stunt will replace Luchasaurus and team up with Jungle Boy against FTR next week.
- The Inner Circle will reveal its New Year’s resolutions.
Combats and segments join the already announced TNT title fight between Darby Allin and Brian Cage, and PAC vs. Eddie Kingston.
