The driver suspected of being drunk essentially ‘extinguishes a family’ after the mother and children die in a violent accident, the official said.

KLEIN, Texas – Harris County policeman Mark Herman said on Monday that an alleged drunk driver was responsible for an accident that killed a mother and two of her children on Sunday in an accident with several vehicles in the Klein area.

Herman said the driver will be held responsible after essentially “exterminating a family”.

Another child, 2 years old in the same family, has been on life support since Monday at a Houston hospital, said Herman.

The accident with 7 vehicles happened on Sunday night on FM 2920 and Gosling Road. Authorities said several people were injured and several vehicles were on fire.

Another person from another vehicle was transported overland with non-fatal injuries, investigators said.

All other occupants involved were unhurt or suffered minor injuries and were treated on the spot.

Herman said the drunk driver’s alleged vehicle hit her mother’s vehicle at high speed. The driver, who has not yet been identified, must survive and have crashes and bruises. Herman said he should be charged with several counts of manslaughter for intoxication, with the possibility of increasing the charges, depending on the ongoing situation with the 2-year-old son in the hospital.

The names of family members who died were not released pending notification of the family.

Herman said the suspect’s blood alcohol content is the “main factor” in this case. He said it was 1.5%. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, you are legally intoxicated in Texas when your blood alcohol concentration reaches 0.08%.

“I really don’t want to put my personal thoughts on that because it wouldn’t be very good,” said Herman. “But professionally, I can say that law enforcement continues to fight for the good fight against our disabled drivers (with DWI initiatives between the local sheriff and the local police).”
