An unboxing video of the DJI FPV drone has circulated over the internet in the past few days, showing us just about everything. Let’s take a look at the video and discuss it before it is removed again.
The video first appeared on the Dominion Drones channel before being removed shortly thereafter. Some people managed to download the video and upload it to YouTube, giving us a look at the video once again.
If the video is removed from YouTube again, we will review it in detail for those who are reading without the video. This will only mention things that we have not seen or noticed before. So there may be some things that we don’t notice.
The video
The packaging is in line with the rest of the DJI drones, with a clean white box and images of the products inside. The packaging also says that it is not for sale in the upper right corner, as this is just a demo unit. The box opens, with the FPV drone on display next to the FPV V2 glasses.
DJI FPV Drone
The side of the drone has the word FPV written with the standard DJI logo on the back. The two smaller cameras at the front combine with two cameras at the bottom, which means they will be used to avoid obstacles and probably ActiveTrack, rather than FPV cameras. The bottom of the drone also has two infrared sensors and an LED light to assist in landing in low light conditions.
FPV glasses
Next, let’s take a look at the new glasses. It looks like it has a joystick, a record button and another button on the top right, with a foam that is apparently much better than the V1. There are also two buttons on the left side and a MicroSD card slot and USB-C charging port. The video also states that the glasses are much lighter, which is great to hear. There are also two adjustment sliders at the bottom of the glasses.
FPV controller
Taking a look at the controller, we can see that it is full of buttons at the top. It appears to have the standard gimbal adjustment slider and the record / photo button. There is also a start / stop button, a three-way switch with arrows on it, a home flight pause / return button and a three-way flight mode switch.
Accessories
Next, we take a look at the three-bladed propellers, two sets of them. The charger for the batteries, glasses and drone controller. It also appears to come with a small power bank to extend battery life in the field. The final box has the antennae of the glasses and the headband, and a spare canopy in a bright green color. This will allow DJI FPV drones in a race to be easily tracked by drivers and spectators. The usual cables and paperwork are also in this box.
And that’s where the video ends. Watch the video below while you still can.
