The day before the developers in a new gameplay, reveal and create a unique survival experience

As part of IGN Fan Fest 2021, the developers behind the upcoming survival action game The Day Before, Fntastic, debuted a new look in the brutal and immersive world that awaits players. The new gameplay, which you can watch below, offers a quick glimpse into life and action in the world of The Day Before, including the fact that not every character you know has to be an enemy.

“We at Fntastic believe that during a true post-apocalypse there will be many wonderful people who will help others in any way, but inevitably there will be those who will not hesitate to use force. We try to show that human nature in the game trailer, “Eduard and Aiden Gotovtsev told IGN via email.

Check out a new exclusive trailer:And while the looks of The Day Before have so far included a lot of tense action, there will be safety spots, notably the Woodberry Survivor Colony, where players “can interact with other players, join groups, talk to some residents, carry out missions and have fun. We have the idea of doing several events inside the colony during the holidays, so that players get closer and celebrate the holidays together. ”As the new trailer shows, you can also find brief moments of rest in a territory more hostile to camp, sleep, cook and, in general, relax before returning to a brutal world.

As for building the base itself, the developers explained that the classic, resource-based “build a hut of stones and sticks” is not so much what inspires them, but something more like Nintendo’s Animal Crossing.

“In The Day Before, we have the concept of a different basis from other MMO survival games. As a hint – we really like the concept in that cute game where there is a greedy raccoon boss,” said Gotovtsev.

The new part of the gameplay is not a rest for the player, although, after a quick walk in the open air, they quickly become involved in a firefight. But instead of any HUD indicators taking the player into combat, they clearly have to naturally take over the world around them, paying careful attention to sound and other environmental cues.

“We pay close attention to the sounds of the game to make the world look realistic. Based on that, we’ve abandoned casual HUD indicators and are focusing on high quality surround sound, which is an important part of the world’s credibility and atmosphere,” explained the developers.

As the fight continues, the confrontation ends in a brutal drop, a short shot to the face after the player has knocked down his opponent. While the developers note that the final moves are not necessarily new to the games, they hope to add a unique twist to the survival MMO genre.

“The game has several options after the fall: using different types of finishing moves depending on the weapon, healing and tying another player. And especially creative players will be able to invent several other methods: they can take down and tie another player and, in then attract the attention of a horde of zombies, who will happily eat [on the character]and so on, “they explained.

As for the final gameplay scene of a dark, mysterious hallway and door, the developers joked that places like this “will be like a cold show after a day of effervescent heat”. And really, a lot of what Fntastic intends to do is bring something new and unique to the genre.

“It is no secret that [moost survival MMO’s] they are all built on the sandbox model, when you set goals for yourself and wander the desert world. The day before, we reinvented everything from the game’s objectives to the ways we approached the quality of the game’s mechanics, ”the developers noted.

The Day Before currently has no release date, but be sure to check out the trailer for the original ad.
