The CSEED M1 is a $ 400,000 foldable MicroLED TV

For Netflix binge watchers who you may be worried that a giant TV would overwhelm your life room vibration, do not fear: The 165 inch C SEED M1 it is a huge folding screen that disappears completely on the floor when not in use. Unfortunately, Iinstallation looks like a giant pain –and this is assuming that you survive the shock of the patch.

Unlike companies like LG, that have used flexible OLED screen technology to provide giant TVs that can discreetly disappear into an unassuming box when not in use, C SEED uses microLEDs. MicroLEDs, that many consider to be the future of screen technology, Combine the best features of today’s leading display technologies with self-illuminating RGB pixels that do not require backlight and without the degrading organic compounds that are used to make OLED screens. The new screen technology is also more energy efficient, allows for thinner screens and can produce whites and blacks that rival the best TVs currently on the market.

The only downside is that microLED monitors cannot double as OLEDs do – at least for now. So, to make a 165 inch TV disappear on the floor, the C SEED designed the M1 to first separate into five separate panels that fold ito each other like a giant fan. This is the other advantage of microLED screen technology: It allows much larger TVs to be assembled from smaller panels, while perfectly hiding all seams, so the end result looks like a giant, uniform screen.

We all saw “Jumbotron” screens crossed with black lines where the smaller panels did not line up perfectly, but C SEED promises that this is not a problem with the M1 thanks to a feature called Adaptive Gap Calibration, which detects when panels have small offsets and automatically adjusts the brightness of the border pixels to hide any shadows that create these unpleasant sewing lines.

OC SEED M1, available in a gold, black or titanium finish, can be yours for $ 400,000, but that does not include the renovations needed to prepare a room for your installation. If you want the full effect of a giant TV screen that disappears on your floor, you’re going to have to get a contractor to make sure it’s even possible for a room – and then there is the room below to consider if you live in a multi-storey house. If you live in an apartment or condo in a tower, you’ll have to settle for other installation options, that include a giant box on the floor for the M1 to collapse or matching decorative furniture so that it hides inside.

It seems like a lot of work to disguise a TV, butatching the C SEED M1 slowly rising from the ground and then unfolding like the solar panels of a satellite that has just entered orbit is mesmerizing. Almost makes having to wait a few minutes before you can watch TV not seem as inconvenient as it really is. Getting there is half the fun with the M1.
