TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY – The Tompkins County Health Department announced today that it is asking qualified people to complete a registration form that will allow the health department to contact them directly each time a new batch of vaccination doses COVID-19 is made available.
The record probably signals the biggest step forward in local vaccine accessibility, at least in terms of knowing when to register for consultations and when those consultations will be available. The people eligible for the vaccine already constitute the target population, so that they are notified when there is another group of vaccine doses in the municipality. Caregivers, family members or friends of qualified people can complete the form on your behalf. The form is available here.
The registration is not to notify someone when they become eligible, but only to let eligible individuals know when they can actually receive their first injection and start the vaccination process, which requires two injections for the most effective immunity. As eligibility expands, more people will be able to join the registry.

“This record is to assist TCHD in the ongoing planning for a more adaptable and efficient distribution of the vaccine in Tompkins County,” said the department at its launch. “Eligible individuals should continue to search for vaccine nominations available through pharmacies and government-run websites, if they can. This record does not replace these processes. The TCHD continues to encourage 100 percent of eligible individuals to get the vaccine when they can ”.
Qualified persons can also be registered by telephone, calling 2-1-1 or (877-211-8667). If someone indicates that they do not have access to the Internet, they can also be contacted by phone to schedule a vaccination appointment, when possible – although the consultation is not guaranteed by adhering to the registry.
Individuals filling out the registration form can receive a confirmation email from covid19vaccines @ tompkins-
“This record will help us to identify the demand in the different priority groups and will help us to communicate directly with the eligible populations,” said Public Health Director Frank Kruppa. “We need everyone in our community to be vaccinated as soon as they can. We recognize that there is still some confusion and difficulty in finding vaccine appointments and we hope that this will be a useful tool for TCHD to make this process more efficient and adaptable for the community. “
If you are not currently eligible for the vaccine, TCHD encourages you to subscribe to receive updates via email. The TCHD will invite more individuals to join the registry as eligibility expands.
