The control developer solution has just had a record financial year, without launching a game

Remedy more than doubled its operating profit in 2020, reaching a record financial year, despite not having released any games. According to the company’s latest financial report for the 12 months ending December 31, 2020, full-year revenue grew 30%, to € 41.1 million. Operating profit reaches € 13.2 million, more than double the € 6.5 million achieved in 2019.

These figures make 2020 a record and striking year for the Finnish developer. This was all done without a new game release. Instead, success came through Control’s continued sales. Remedy released the game on additional platforms in 2020, such as Steam, Xbox Game Pass and cloud services, and an Ultimate Edition was published by 505 Games that included a next-generation update for console players.Although no new games were released in 2020, Remedy launched expansions for Control, including AWE, which tied story topics shared between Control and Alan Wake.

With a record year out of the way, Remedy is in strong development from 2021. The company recently struck a deal with the new publisher of Epic Games, with which it will produce an AAA game and a smaller scale project, both for console and PRAÇA.

In addition, Remedy is also working with Smilegate on the one-player campaign for the Xbox exclusive shooting game, CrossfireX. We’ve already taken a quick look at what has been produced so far, and it looks like Remedy is giving a full call of duty on this one.
