The Coast Guard seeks a boat to Florida with about 20 people on board suspended

The Coast Guard received a report on Tuesday that the blue and white 29-foot Mako Cuddy Cabin, last known for departing Bimini in the Bahamas on Monday, did not arrive as expected in Lake Worth, Florida, from according to a statement from the Coast Guard.

Ships and aircraft from the U.S. Air Force, the Coast Guard, the Bahamas military and a group of volunteers in the Bahamas scoured approximately 17,000 square miles for about 84 hours, the statement said.

“Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of the missing people,” said Capt. Stephen V. Burdian, head of response for the Coast Guard’s Seventh District. “I encourage anyone with information about the people on board to contact us as soon as possible.”

The Coast Guard did not release the name of the missing vessel.
