The Clubhouse is making changes that will resolve some common complaints about its audio chats and hopes to give creators a boost in the process. How The Verge reports, the Clubhouse will no longer require access to your phone contacts to invite people to the platform – you just need to add the phone number directly. While this is not as ideal as avoiding phone numbers altogether, it addresses complaints that the Clubhouse was asking for unnecessary information and creating profiles for people who never intended to enter.
The head of the company, Paul Davidson, added that you can ask the company to delete all the contacts it has already loaded and that a tool is under development to allow you to delete the contacts yourself.
The service is also expanding its basic functionality, including support for sharing links (for profiles and clubs) and language filters to limit chats to those in your preferred language. Nominations for joining a club may come from the group itself, not from individuals. And if you’ve dealt with abuse, there are now more tools to identify it and keep it off the platform.
As for the creative impulse? Clubhouse is presenting a Creator First accelerator program that offers producers the resources to carry out their projects. Only 20 people will initially be eligible for the initiative, whose registration ends on March 31.
Additions can be crucial. The Clubhouse attracted a lot of buzz, helped in part by the presence of important users like Elon Musk. However, concerns about privacy have increased and competition like Twitter’s Spaces or a supposed equivalent on Facebook can stifle the Clubhouse’s growth. An improved reputation could keep the Clubhouse growing and discourage people from switching to competitors.
