The city of Tampa announces plans for the Bucs parade at the Super Bowl on Wednesday

TAMPA, Florida – The city of Tampa has revealed its plans for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl parade.

The Bucs, Hillsborough County and the city of Tampa came together to host a socially distant boat parade along the Hillsborough River.

The city announced that a parade of boats will take place at 1 pm on Wednesday, February 10, along the Tampa Riverwalk.

The parade is a celebration of the Bucs’ 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at the Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.

Fans are invited to “Raise the Flags” and join the celebration that covers the Tampa Riverwalk and other viewing areas that offer ample space for social detachment.

“As a reminder, masks are required outdoors in all areas of events and entertainment districts, including downtown and along the Tampa Riverwalk,” the press release said.

Sailors may be in the water during the parade, however, they cannot participate in the parade. Sailors must be 50 feet from the official boats of the parade

The Lightning celebrated with a parade of boats after winning the Stanley Cup in September and its Twitter account recommended that Bucs do the same.

MORE SUPER BOWL COVERAGE

Mayor Jane Castor has expressed frustration with some videos seen on Super Bowl weekends of large crowds, some of them not wearing masks, and she is asking parade participants to wear their masks.

Dr. Jay Wolfson said last year’s Lightning parade resulted in an increase in coronavirus cases locally.

Thousands of fans gathered along the shore to watch the boats parade.

“Wearing the masks will make a difference,” said Wolfson. “We suggest that people bring disinfectant lotion with them, because they are going to touch the bars, touch some other things and they want to make sure they don’t get a cough or sneeze.”

The following parking options are recommended for fans attending the parade:

  • Poe Garage and Tampa Convention Center Garage – $ 10 flat fee for events
  • Fort Brooke Garage and Pam Iorio Garage – $ 2 an hour
  • Palm Garage in Ybor – $ 1 per hour (visitors can take the free TECO tram to the center)
  • Surface lots – $ 1 per hour

The city of Clearwater also plans to celebrate the Bucs by creating a unique sand sculpture on Clearwater Beach.

“After the great success of the promotional sand sculpture that featured Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, we will once again partner with the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival to build a tribute piece to the winning team,” said Kris Koch, senior manager of events and athletics for the city of Clearwater.

Master sand sculptors will create the piece on Tuesday, February 9th. The sculpture is expected to be completed on Wednesday, February 10.
