The charges against Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend were dropped permanently for shooting the police officer the night she was murdered

The charges were dismissed permanently with prejudice against Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, who shot a policeman during the deadly operation that killed Taylor, according to reports.

Jefferson Circuit Court judge Olu Stevens, Kentucky, signed an order on Monday that definitively closed the criminal case against Kenneth L. Walker. Stevens’ order rejected the 2020 charge against Walker with prejudice, which means it cannot be reconsidered.

Taylor was fatally shot by the police who burst into her door with a narcotics warrant on March 13, 2020. She and Walker settled down for the night when the police arrived and knocked the door down. Walker said he thought an intruder was coming in and fired a single shot that hit the sergeant. Jonathan Mattingly on the thigh.

BREONNA TAYLOR’S DEATH: LOUISVILLE’S POLICE DOCUMENTS SHINE IN THE INVESTIGATION DETAILS

“I’m not naive enough to believe that, A, maybe Kenneth Walker didn’t hear us, or B, that [attorneys] failed to convince one in 12 people that they did not hear us, “said Mattingly in October.

Mattingly has recovered from his leg injury and remains in the Louisville police department.

A motion by Walker’s lawyer calling for permanent resignation under Kentucky’s “maintain his position” provisions said Walker “acted in self-defense and did not know the police were on the other side of the door.”

Prosecutors rejected an attempted murder of an accused policeman against Walker in May, about two months after Taylor’s death. But prosecutors left the opportunity open to revisit the charge against Walker if new evidence emerged.
