The cast of ‘Bridgerton’ is already giving tips on the second season

From ELLE

I made a wonderful discovery this week: there may be no better way to close the door in 2020 than to stuff your face with Christmas cookies and eat eight consecutive episodes of a Shonda Rhimes-era drama. The steamy and luxurious regency suite Bridgerton– the first new series with Rhimes script as part of his big deal with Netflix – not my typical Netflix food; I usually find period pieces that are too tired and stretched.

But Bridgerton moves along with the captivating clip of one of those extravagant horses that the protagonists ride on the side saddle. The story of Daphne Bridgerton’s plan to avoid a loveless marriage to the idiot Lord Berbrooke – sparking a false romance with the Duke of Hastings – may seem superficial, but Bridgerton does a wonderful job of manifesting real intimacy between the two leads. The result is fun escapism that still manages to look meaningful and special.

So, the question on everyone’s lips, of course, is whether there is More. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for official news from Lady Whistledown, but there are some things we know so far.

The second season seems likely.

Although Netflix has yet to announce an official return for Bridgerton, we have two reasons to suspect that this will happen anyway: 1) The series has been a huge success since its debut on December 25 and 2) Reports of production schedules seem to indicate that the second season is already scheduled for 2021. In particular, a recent list of Weekly Production shows that the season is set to start filming in Uxbridge, England, in March 2021. We will see if this will last with the coronavirus pandemic, but it is a promising sign for future episodes!

The cast wants to come back.

While the cast’s excitement doesn’t necessarily mean the show will return, it certainly doesn’t hurt. Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne, told ELLE.com that she would love to return to the show, as long as she can have some fun with Jonathan Bailey’s character, Anthony. “I want to see Daphne get a little involved in Anthony’s love life, as he kind of intruded a lot on hers,” she joked. “I think it will be fun.”

On the other hand, Regé-Jean Page, who plays Daphne’s soft boyfriend, Simon Basset, would like to see more their relationship in the next series. “As for continuing to explore characters, I think love is an evolving thing,” he said TV guide. “It is a living thing, that breathes, that needs care, care, that needs repair when it gets worn or torn. They get married very young. They still have a lot to grow. They have a lot to do and I think it will always be fun to watch them do it together. “

Finally, Nicola Coughlan, who plays dear Penelope Featherington, said Radio Times she would also come back for more – especially if Penelope had more screen time. “I would love to go on this journey with [Penelope], to see how it has changed, “she said.” I would really love to come back, because I feel like we’ve just scratched the surface. And because there is such a huge cast on this show, there are so many more of all the characters. “

We have a good idea of what the second season will be.

Speaking of a large cast of characters, the Bridgerton The series of books on which the program is based has eight different books, meaning that Netflix assistants are not short of material to work with. If the series continues to build on Julia Quinn’s creations, the next season should focus not on Daphne and Simon, but on Daphne’s brother Anthony and his own search for love – or, uh, something like that.

You see, Anthony is convinced that he should marry out of duty, not out of love, and so he refuses to marry someone he really likes. In the book, entitled The viscount who loved me, he chooses a daughter Sheffield as his wife, but Kate Sheffield intervenes to protect her younger sister from marrying London’s most famous bachelor. So Kate realizes own heart may be at stake. Looks delicious.
