A 55-year-old Canadian casino CEO resigned after he and his 32-year-old wife were arrested for misleading authorities by traveling to remote territory near Canada and posing as motel employees to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Rod Baker, head of Great Canadian Gaming Corp, a $ 2 billion company, and his wife, Ekaterina, flew from Vancouver to the Yukon Territory, on the Alaskan border, for the vaccine.

The Yukon Territory, home to mostly indigenous peoples, has a smaller population and a higher vaccination rate than the rest of Canada.

The couple was discovered for their alleged fraud after receiving the injections and asking to be taken home immediately, according to BBC reports.

“I am outraged by this selfish behavior,” Yukon Community Services Minister John Streicker told the BBC.

“We didn’t think anyone would go so far as to cheat or cheat,” he added.

White River First Nation chief Angela Demit said in a statement that “We are deeply concerned about the actions of individuals who put our elderly and vulnerable people at risk of skipping the line for selfish purposes”
