The royal family knows that 2020 has not been a normal year for anyone, which is why Kate Middleton and Prince William posted an unusual Christmas message on Instagram for 2020.
Usually, the royal family goes to church at Sandringham Estate on Christmas morning, where they are greeted by a crowd of fans helping to celebrate the occasion. However, due to current coronavirus guidelines in the UK, large Christmas gatherings are not allowed, and this also applies to the royal family.

Duchess Kate and Prince William also decided to share a special message on Instagram, in which they recognized the unprecedented 2020 holiday season and wished for a better 2021.
“This Christmas, our thoughts are with those who are passing today alone,” wrote the Cambridges, “those who are suffering from the loss of a loved one and those of you on the front lines who are somehow gathering the energy to put their own lives on hold and at risk to care for the rest of us. “
“Wishing you a Merry Christmas doesn’t look right this year,” said Kate and William, “so instead, we wish you a better 2021.”
The official Kensington Palace Instagram account shared a series of photos highlighting the very different Christmas that most people are having in 2020, and shared a list of resources for those in need. “And for those who are struggling today, support is available if you need it,” they wrote, before listing charities and organizations that can offer help in this difficult time:
