The Call of Duty war zone is (slowly) triggering a zombie event

With the arrival of Call to actionIn the second season of February 25, the zombies won the spotlight in history. Black Ops Cold War I have a great zombie Outbreak mode, and War zoneThe Verdansk map has a ship full of undead. War zone is slowly being infected by the undead, leading to a new mode or potential map.

When the Vodianoy cargo ship crashed on Verdansk’s back two weeks ago, it was quite clear that some of the zombies on board were going to break free. Yesterday’s update spreads the infection over the southeastern portion of the map to Verdansk prison. The zombie infection did not spread as most expected, with the ship remaining an infected zone. Instead, the undead simply abandoned the Vodianoy ship and have now set up camp in the prison.

Zombies can be activated in prison in the same way as in the Vodianoy shipwreck, activating a machine to start a zombie killing event. Killing a specific number of zombies will grant you access to a special loot chest with items like high-level weapons and a gas mask. But it is very likely that these zombie infestations are more than just getting some equipment.

It’s possible that this is just a provocation in a new Zombies mode to War zone. But this spread of the undead is being strongly triggered by War zone developers Raven Software and the Call to action blog, which makes it easier to assume that something big is about to hit Verdansk.

Part of yesterday blog states that “immediate exfil and subsequent fumigation is recommended.” In addition, there were rumors of a “plague” mode coming to War zone, which would require surviving a zombie outbreak and map exfiltration, or else a nuclear bomb would end the game.

Some players speculate that this will lead to an uncontrollable outbreak that will end with the entire map of Verdansk being bombed to contain the spread, finally ushering in a Cold War era. War zone map. This theory fits perfectly with War zonethe constant reminder that Verdansk is installed in a bunch of nuclear warheads. Nuclear bunkers continue to open their doors and provoke these warheads, so perhaps the zombies are indeed the imminent threat that will cause all of these nuclear weapons to detonate.

The map of Verdansk has never reached its full potential and landscape updates have been scarce, but I still enjoyed my time there. I have many memories of mischief with friends, like War zone it was a great distraction during unusual times last year. With that said, I am totally in favor of detonating and starting from scratch. A zombie outbreak can be a fun way to send Verdansk away, but I have my doubts that this event will be the satisfying end that many hope for.

Bring BOCW imitations to the war zone

My biggest concern is that all of this preparation for a zombie event is dragging along at a staggering corpse rhythm. Last year’s teasers that led to War zonein “Know your story” live event has dragged on for weeks. I was a big fan of engaging the community with Easter egg teasers and puzzles in the game, but if you drag anything around long enough, it loses some of its excitement.

Weekly is possible War zone the updates will infect a different location each time, and that will only be more of the same until we finally reach the conclusion of season 2. The season has barely started, probably ending in late April, so we have a long way to go before we reach the end that the developers are preparing.

I would love to see Raven Software really speed up this infection process and give us a zombie-infested map complete with some interesting modes and twists. Maybe add some of the great “elite” zombies found in Cold WarZombies mode, or include some mini Easter eggs to solve. We’ll see what happens next.
