Medvedev was frustrated to be left without answers to Djokovic’s masterful performance.

And No. 4 in the world let those frustrations spill over in the second set, when he destroyed his racket in a rage.

The TV cameras immediately cut to Medvedev’s wife, Daria, who gave her husband a brutal look of disappointment from his box.

Daria was also spotted looking dejected at various stages during the match as her husband’s title hopes faded.

Tennis fans certainly didn’t let Daria’s reactions go unnoticed.

Medvedev expressed his gratitude in thanking his wife and support staff in his post-game speech.

“It’s not the best day today,” he said.

β€œProbably a good three months after some difficult circumstances.

β€œThank you for being with me in Australia for so long. Hopefully we will be doing a Grand Slam soon. “

Daniil Medvedev is no match for tennis ‘cyborgs’

Describing Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as “tennis cyborgs”, Medvedev admitted that his best is not enough to take down the big three when they are in the grand slam zone.

After losing to Nadal in the 2019 U.S. Open final, the Russian was no match for Djokovic in the Australian Open decision on Sunday.

But the 25-year-old was optimistic despite the result, saying the trio’s stars are simply better players.

“When they are in the zone, and I am not ashamed to say that, I feel that they are just better tennis players, which is shown in facts and figures, than the rest of us,” he said.

“When we are also in the zone, we can bring a big fight, we can win some games, some maybe big titles, but the percentage is on their side.”

The win was Djokovic’s ninth in Melbourne Park in nine final appearances, and Medvedev had already done the math on the impressive feat.

“I am 25 years old now, so to win nine Australian Opens, I need to win every year until I am 34,” he said.

“I believe in myself, but I don’t think I am able to do that.

“The same with Rafa (Nadal) – 13 in Roland Garros – we’re talking about some tennis cyborgs, in a good way. They are just unbelievable.”
