A company that was supposedly ready to sell PS5 consoles with a black PS2 theme appears to be leaving fans without their devices and money.
Earlier this year, we reported that a company called SUP3R5 was selling black PS5 consoles, designed with the look and feel of a PlayStation 2.
Given that many Sony players were not fans of the PS5’s white outer casing, this was a dream come true – but exclusive. With only 304 Black PS5 consoles in play, this was a truly exciting deal.

But it looks like it was too good to be true. In an update to our original SUP3R5 Black PS5 article, we reported that the company had canceled all of its orders.
Manufacturers cited the reason as having “credible threats to their security”. They also claimed that all buyers would receive a full refund for their products.
Now, it seems that it was not the case.
Was the Black PS5 Console a scam?
According to new reports, many consumers believe that sales of the Black PS5 were a scam all the time.
Although SUP3R5 labels such charges as “offensive, confusing and unfair”, some users have allegedly not yet received a refund.
And now, SUP3R5 has not only deleted its Twitter account, but the site has also been completely removed.
A Reddit user reports that he is still waiting for a refund from the company, which is no longer easy to contact. Another confirms that he received a refund, but only reporting the case to PayPal itself.

A recent VGC report confirms that the user is not alone in his efforts, but has also resorted to seeking compensation through PayPal.

Previously, SUP3R5 tried to explain exactly what was wrong with his sales plan. The company attacked consumers for publishing “a fraud narrative”, although it claimed to understand its concerns:
“We think it’s perfectly reasonable to be skeptical about an operation that started as quickly as we did. However, we started to see people on Twitter and YouTube actively promoting the scam narrative, some even claiming to have evidence of it. “
How to get a black PS5?
SUP3R5 may also return in the future, given previous statements. The company says they will change, with a silent, invitation-only approach.
However, given the lack of presence of SUP3R5 at the moment, we would say that it is quite unlikely in the state of affairs.

At the moment, there is another company that claims to be able to produce a black, blue or even red PS5. However, this manufacturer is selling only the console shell, rather than the device itself.
We hope this is a much safer method of obtaining the console, but you can never be too careful. There is also a new way to buy black PS5s specifically, if you still want to play with the concept.
You can also do what this parent did and ask your kids to paint the PS5 console for you. However, we do not recommend this option, given the previous results.
