The bears designate Massie to return from the IR, hire Shelton for the training team

The Chicago Bears have designated direct tackle Bobby Massie to return from the injured reserve, meaning he will be able to start training this week. This does not necessarily mean that he will be ready to play this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, but if he shows enough to the coaches it is possible that he is activated.

He originally injured his knee on November 1 against the Saints, and Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Tribune, believes that the best scenario for Massie would be if Bears made it to the playoffs.

The Bears also put striker Badara Traore on reserve for injury to the training team and, to take their place on the training team, hired defender Sojourn Shelton.

Shelton, 25, was originally hired as Wisconsin UDFA by the Arizona Cardinals in 2017. He has since leapt through the league and Chicago is his fourth stop.

Also, in case you missed it, Bears yesterday protected quarterback Tyler Bray from being hired.
