The Chicago Bears appears to be a team that is in reconstruction mode, as evidenced by the decision to release veteran cornerback Kyle Fuller.

Fuller was expected to earn $ 20 million in 2021, making him a possible casualty. Chicago will save $ 11 million by splitting from Fuller, twice Pro Bowler and a leader in the defensive field.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Bears wanted to keep Fuller in the squad, but asked him to make a “very significant pay cut” in the process. Ultimately, Fuller prefers to test the free agent market, where it will certainly be in high demand.

Fuller signed a $ 56 million four-year extension with Bears in 2018, and he went on to win that contract with the best season of his career in 2018, where he had seven interceptions and received All-Pro honors.

Unfortunately for general manager Ryan Pace, his previous decisions, especially with regard to the salary cap, came back to haunt him.

While many were wondering who would fill the void left by the nickelback Buster Skine, the most urgent question is who starts with the second year corner Jaylon Johnson in 2021.
