The Amazon Fire TV update expands to more devices

The new user experience update from Amazon is being released for additional Fire TV devices starting today. Amazon is calling this the “biggest experience update” they have ever done.

The company announced the interface update in December, with only the third generation of Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite devices receiving the update initially. The new Fire TV experience is now available in: Fire TV Stick (3rd generation), Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube (1st and 2nd generation) and Fire TV (3rd generation Pendant Design). Support for Fire TV Stick (2nd generation) and Fire TV Smart TVs will arrive later this year.

Changes with the update include a brand new splash screen with more customization. The main menu allows quick navigation to favorite streaming applications and previews of what is being played.

An improved search feature allows users to search by genre, free content, and programs and movies already in the user’s content library.

The update also includes the option to make profiles for each family member, with up to six profiles available per account. This means that everyone can get personalized recommendations and their own watch list.

Your Fire TV devices should automatically check for the update and install the update when not in use. You can check for updates by accessing the device settings, selecting My Fire TV, selecting About, and finally, Check for updates.
