Ahsoka Tano is getting his own series on Disney +. The character made her live-action debut in Season 2 of The Mandalorian and it was a great help to Din Djarin and Grogu, whose real name she revealed to an unknown Mando. Plot details for Ahsoka are scarce (and will be for a while), but it’s possible that Dave Filoni’s next series may explain why Luke Skywalker abandoned the Jedi entirely in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Yes, there may be more than what happened to Kylo Ren.
The theory – Reddit user despes_blanche thinks Luke will cross paths with Ahsoka in the next Disney + series and she will warn him against continuing the Jedi legacy. (Remember, Ahsoka abandoned the Jedi path in The Clone Wars.) The two may come into conflict because of their disparate ideologies, but Luke will obviously build the Jedi Temple anyway. Retrospective is 20/20, however, and Luke’s regret for not following Ahsoka’s advice after the burning of the Jedi Temple and Ben Solo’s return to the Dark side may be what causes him to shut himself off completely from the Force – which is how we met him in The last Jedi.
Why is Luke going back in Ahsoka
Now that Luke has appeared in The Mandalorian, it is possible that he will appear on Ahsoka’s show as well. And considering that the two have totally different interpretations of the Jedi, this could create an interesting and unique dynamic. After all, Ahsoka’s own disillusionment with the Jedi was the subject of much exploration in The Clone Wars.
It was brought up again when Din Djarin asked her to train Grogu in The Mandalorian and she refused. Arguing with Luke could expand the arguments for and against the Jedi. It can also alienate the pair, especially since Luke may still be very excited about the feeling of redeeming Darth Vader, succeeding where Ahsoka probably failed.
Luke was a hopeful Jedi in the original Star Wars trilogy. He was ready and willing to learn everything he could about Force users after training with Jedi Master Yoda. In the following years Return of the Jedi, Luke planned to restore the Jedi teachings and built an academy where he could train students to use the Force. Presumably, this is where he will take Grogu after The Mandalorian End of season 2.

We know that Luke’s withdrawal from the Jedi had (at least in part) to do with his failure to train Ben Solo. The subsequent destruction of the Jedi Temple by his nephew only exacerbated his disenchantment with the Jedi customs, leading to a complete detachment at the time of the new sequential trilogy.
But even Mark Hamill said he disagreed with how his character was treated in the film. When Last Jedi premiered, Hamill recalled a conversation with the film’s director, Rian Johnson:
“I said to Rian, ‘Jedis don’t give up.’ I mean, even if [Luke] he had a problem, he might take a year to try to regroup, but if he made a mistake, he would try to fix that wrong, so right there, we had a fundamental difference. But it’s not my story anymore, it’s someone else’s story and Rian needed me to have a certain way to make the ending effective. This is the crux of my problem. Luke would never say that. I’m so sorry.”
Hamill raises a fair question. If you think about the character we knew in the original trilogy, your portrait in the sequences doesn’t make perfect sense – even if it works inside The last Jedinarrative of. However, very similar The Clone Wars used Ahsoka to massage some of the rough details of the prequels into a cleaner story, Ahsoka showrunner Dave Filoni could use it again to make some minor repairs to the strings as well. Starting with Luke Skywalker.
Ahsoka is scheduled to debut at Disney + in 2022.
