The 650 HP 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed has a top speed of 208 MPH – Robb Report

Bentley has taken a number of steps to ensure that the 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed lives up to its name.

The British brand has just unveiled the new and improved version of the high-performance variant of its majestic grand tourer. And thanks to an improved W12 engine, it can be the most dynamic Bentley ever.

The 6.0-liter W12 biturbo of the Speed may not be new, but it has been optimized. The specially tuned plant is now capable of generating 650 horsepower and 664 ft lbs of torsion, according to the automaker. This is an increase of 24 horsepower over the standard Continental GT W12, although the torque value remains the same. Coupled to an eight-speed, double-clutch automatic transmission that has recently been calibrated to shift gears twice as fast as before, the engine can fire the elegant speed machine from zero to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, a tenth second faster than the basic W12, and push it to a top speed of 208 mph.

Bentley went to great lengths to ensure that the Speed was also more driver-friendly. The variant now has four-wheel steering along with a limited-slip electronic differential. These elements combine to offer more agility and stability than other Continental GTs, especially when it comes to changing direction at low and medium speeds. Other upgrades include a three-chamber active air suspension with adaptive damping and Bentley’s Dynamic Ride system that uses 48-volt active stabilizer bars. Newly designed carbon ceramic brakes are also available, which should visibly improve the car’s braking force.

Speed’s litany of updates isn’t just limited to hidden improvements. The exterior has undergone a subtle makeover, including a Dark Tint finish on the grille, air intakes, side sills and defensive arches. It also features special emblems, including a speed icon on the passenger panel, and runs on shiny 22-inch silver wheels with a specific finish. These adjustments may seem minimal, but they give the coupe a much more muscular build. The interior was also improved with the seats and steering wheel now covered in two-tone leather and upholstery in Alcântara. You can also choose from 15 primary colors and 11 secondary colors when customizing the cabin.

Although a firm date has not been set, the Continental GT Speed is expected to go on sale later this year. We are still waiting for pricing information, but we expect the top-of-the-line variant to start well north of the $ 202,500 starting price for the Continental GT V8 and the starting price of $ 218,900 for the Continental GT W12.
