Bengals may not be training the Senior Bowl this year, but that doesn’t mean they won’t consider players playing in it. Especially considering his great need in OL and the extremely strong OL class in the Senior Bowl.
Overall, it’s a great Senior Bowl class and with the more restrictive draft season, this is one of the few opportunities and Bengalis need to take advantage of it.
With that said, let’s take a look at five players that Bengals could select in the Senior Bowl.
1. Dillon Radunz OT, State of North Dakota
A nasty blocker with athleticism and a good enough size to stay outside in the NFL. He played on the left side in college, but there is no reason to believe that he couldn’t play on the right if necessary. Coming from a smaller school and having a little space to grow in your structure may be what pushes you to a place where Bengals could take you on Day 2 if they took a different path in the first round.
2. Quinn Meinerz iOL, Wisconsin Whitewater
Speaking of small schools, arguably the best OL performance of the week comes from the power of DIII, Wisconsin Whitewater. A very big player, with decent athleticism and a tough demeanor in his game, he could bring exactly what Bengal needs to his interior offensive line. He has experience in various offensive line positions, so he brings the versatility that the Bengals love and need. Again, coming from a small school, it could be the perfect option for the Bengals to face on Day 2.
3. Kadarius Toney WR, Florida
While I could easily fill the list with five OLs that have done really well on mobile devices, variety is the spice of life, so let’s take a look at someone who could bring some fire to the Bengal attack. Arriving in 2021, Bengals desperately need a WR that can open up quickly and also threaten the field. Toney offers this and also a fantastic ability after capture. If the Bengals don’t go to WR in the first round and Toney reaches them in the second round, he would be a perfect complement to the weapons they have now.
4. Hamilcar Rashed Jr. EDGE, Oregon State
If Rashed had shown up at college in Mobile, then I probably wouldn’t have included him here. However, he was able to pack at 20 pounds putting it at 6’4 ”250. He was still able to get a little bigger, but the fact that he came a lot heavier and still looks flexible and explosive is very intriguing. He may not be an early player, especially at the beginning, but he could be a speed element for the Bengals pass race with the potential to become a great player. For a player who could be available for Day 3 after a difficult 2020 season, the potential is at an all-time high.
5. James Hudson OT, Cincinnati
With only one year of OT experience, Hudson is a bet that, honestly, the Bengals cannot afford to do with one of this year’s top fifty choices. However, sometimes you have to shoot at the moon, and that’s what the Bengals could do with Hudson. A player with a good base of strokes and above average athletics, he is the perfect test for Frank Pollack to become a player of initial caliber. If the Bengals want to go to OT in round 2, there will be few players with potential as high as Hudson available there.
