The $ 159 OnePlus Watch is the first OnePlus smartwatch

It took years, but the OnePlus is finally entering the smartwatch game with the newly announced OnePlus Watch, starting at $ 159. The new watch (as revealed last week) has a round design that looks like a watch. normal wrist instead of the oblong rectangle popularized by the Apple Watch and its imitators, such as the Oppo Watch.

The case itself is made of stainless steel, measures 46 mm and has two buttons on the side (one of which bears the OnePlus logo). It will be available in two colors: silver and black. The screen is a 1.39 inch OLED panel with 326ppi, with sapphire glass.

The watch will also feature a version of the OnePlus’ Warp Charge system (promising a week of battery life on a 20-minute charge). OnePlus promises that the watch should last up to two weeks on a single charge or up to a week for heavier users.

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Watch has 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage and integrated speakers. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS are integrated, but there is no cell phone option. If you want connectivity on your watch, you’ll need to be connected to a nearby phone.

Fitness is also a big part of OnePlus Watch. It will offer more than 110 training modes, integrated GPS and IP68 resistance to water and dust. In addition, OnePlus Watch has internal storage for music, which allows users to store up to 500 songs to listen to on their Bluetooth headphones during a run, even if they do not have the phone. OnePlus Watch can also automatically detect and track exercise, as well as monitor sleep, stress, blood oxygen saturation and heart rate.

However, OnePlus is not using Wear OS for OnePlus Watch. As the company had announced before the event, it will use an RTOS-style software configuration (similar to companies like Fitbit), with a companion app that will allow it to connect to your phone to receive calls and notifications. (An iOS app for Apple users is also promised for the future.)

This means that things like app selection and custom watchfaces will be largely limited to anything that OnePlus can build internally – so no third party apps, at least for now. That said, for starters, there will be dozens of watchface options to choose from (with additional customization options to add more style options), so users have some flexibility.

The OnePlus Watch can also be connected to a OnePlus TV (when available), allowing it to be used as a remote control. And if you happen to fall asleep while watching TV on your OnePlus device, the watch may turn off the TV automatically after detecting that you have fallen asleep.

The company also announced a limited edition model made of cobalt alloy, which it says is twice as hard as stainless steel. OnePlus says the Cobalt Limited Edition will be “coming soon”, but the company is not providing a price yet.

The OnePlus Watch will start at $ 159 and will be available from April 14 on the OnePlus website.
