When Hitman IO Interactive developer James Bond game (working title) Project 007) comes on the scene, with an entirely new James Bond, head of studio Hakan Abrak told Danish Broadcasting Corporation (h / t The player)

Project 007 will follow James Bond in his early days as a British Secret Service agent, portraying the events that led him to win the iconic code name 007. This “totally original” origin story differentiates the game from Bond’s most famous portraits on the cinema screen, where he is already an established MI6 agent, then the development of a new protagonist makes sense, especially when you take into account the already tenuous relationship with continuity.

James Bond debuted in cinema in 1962 Dr. No, portrayed by Sean Connery. Since then, several actors have taken over the mantle, including George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and, more recently, Daniel Craig. AN popular theory because the reason the character has the potential to look so different from film to film is that “James Bond”, like 007 himself, is a codename, used by various agents throughout history, which may or may not match the next game.

In any case, IO Interactive obviously has high hopes for Project 007. The studio opened a second office in Malmö, Sweden last year and is reportedly doubling his overall team from 200 to over 400. Abrak also indicated that IO may already be laying the groundwork for a James Bond trilogy now that HitmanThe group’s “World of Assassination” trilogy has ended. But as the first game is still far away, some plans for the future have yet to be seen.
