Texas state soldier shot near Mexia; ongoing human hunt for suspect: reports

A Texas state policeman was fighting for his life Friday night after being shot near Mexia, in Limestone County, according to reports.

The unidentified police officer was hospitalized in critical condition, with unspecified injuries, while a manhunt was underway to track down the suspect, who remained at large, the sergeant. Ryan Howard, of the Texas Department of Public Security, told KWTX-TV of Waco, Texas.

Several police vehicles were seen in the area shortly after the shooting, a KBTX-TV reporter from Bryan, Texas, posted on Twitter. A pickup truck was also seen parked in the area, other reports said.

Earlier on Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Security issued an alert about the suspect, calling him “armed and dangerous”.
