Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are gaining momentum for the 2022 recruitment cycle.
After landing five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy on February 13, Texas continues to target the best players in the 2022 class. On Sunday, four-star defensive side Gracen Halton announced that it was re-introduced by the Longhorns.
Although Halton made a verbal commitment to Oregon on January 27, Texas could recover ground in the coming months with the help of Sarkisian’s ties to the West Coast. The California native is one of the top 20 players in the country in the 2022 recruiting class and one of the top 12 in his position according to 247Sports.
Halton has compiled an impressive list of Power Five program offerings, including Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, USC, Washington and Nebraska. The 6-3 and 270-pound defensive side has the athletic build and versatility to play multiple positions on the defensive line.
