Texas power outages: Katy and Bryan residents use Ford F-150 truck generators to power homes in the midst of winter storms

HOUSTON (KTRK) – While Texans deal with catastrophic events surrounding the winter storm, a handful of people who lost energy in their homes used their Ford F-150s 2021 with an integrated Pro Power Onboard generator to endure the worst.

They include residents of Katy and Bryan.

Katy’s Randy Jones ran out of power from Sunday to Wednesday. He powered home appliances by connecting extension cables directly to the body of his truck.

Dan Basile de Bryan has power now – but he was using the 2021 F-150 he just bought to heat his house during blackouts.

Their stories were shared on a forum for F-150 enthusiasts.

Pro Power Onboard means that F-150 customers can access an integrated power generator. Pro Power Onboard is available on the new 2021 F-150 models. Power is accessible through outlets in the cabin and up to four 120 volt and 20 ampere outlets mounted on the load bed.
