Goosehead Insurance associate attorney general Paul Davis was fired after a live video shared on social media showed the Texas attorney’s involvement in the United States Capitol violation on Wednesday.
Gooshead confirmed that Davis “was no longer employed” in a tweet on Thursday.
According to an employee memo obtained by Bloomberg Law, Goosehead CEO and co-founder Mark Jones said the company was unaware of Davis’ plans to be part of the “violent demonstration”.
“While we support the right of our employees to vote and express themselves politically, we do not tolerate violent or illegal acts. The actions of this former employee do not reflect the culture or values of our company and we are disappointed in his behavior,” says Jones. said in the Thursday morning message. “Fortunately, we have the cherished rights of assembly and freedom of expression, but those rights do not extend – and cannot – extend to violence in any form.”
Goosehead Insurance did not immediately return FOX News’ request for comment.
TRUMP CONDEMNS CAPITOL RIOTERS, FLAME TO CALM, VOTE TO ENSURE ‘UNFORGETTABLE TRANSITION OF POWER’
Salon staff writer Roger Sollenberger shared a series of clips from Davis’ live broadcasts in a tweet and tagged Goosehead. On Thursday night, the video was viewed more than 1.8 million times.
“Today he broke into the capitol building in an attempt to stage a coup against the U.S. government and documented (!) On Instagram,” wrote Sollenberger.
“All we are doing is requiring our public officials to audit Dominon machines, to audit ballots. There is a way to do this, we can resolve this in two days,” Davis said in the video clip. “If this was a legitimate election, then we will inspect it and if Biden wins we will all continue with our lives, but you know what I don’t think happened.”
Davis hinted at irregularities because there will be no audit.
“The fact that they won’t let us inspect any of the ballots or machines should tell you something,” continued Davis. “We are all trying to get on Capitol Hill to prevent this and this is what is happening … they are sending tear gas to us and that is not acceptable, it is not acceptable, people will not tolerate it.”
Trump supporters descended on the Capitol building on Wednesday as a joint session of Congress certified the victory of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College, making lawmakers confined. The rebellion left four dead, including a pro-Trump protester who was shot and killed by Capitol police, and at least 68 arrests, according to Washington police.
MCENANY SAYS THE RIOTERS ‘ARE THE OPPOSITE OF EVERYTHING THAT THIS ADMINISTRATION MEANS’
Davis graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 2011, according to a profile on the State Bar of Texas website.
Despite being fired from Goosehead, the Texas Bar Association confirmed to FOX News that Davis is still eligible to practice law in the state.
“When a Texas licensed attorney is subject to public controversy, it is common for people to ask the Texas Bar Association to quickly dismiss or sanction the attorney – or to comment on the attorney’s case,” the organization said in a statement. “Under Texas state law, the lawyer’s disciplinary system is a deliberative process with checks and balances designed to protect Texans from unethical lawyers, while ensuring due process for lawyers accused of wrongdoing.”
The Texas Bar Association is never able to “immediately discipline a lawyer, but instead deliberately proceeds through the process with sanctions issued as appropriate under the law in accordance with the facts of each case”.
In addition, state law requires the Texas Bar Association to keep all disciplinary case information confidential unless it has been filed with a district court or resulted in a public sanction.
“As a result, the State Bar Association is usually unable to discuss the existence of pending complaints or confirm investigations into possible lawyer offenses,” added the agency. “The Texas Bar Association is committed to protecting the public by ensuring that lawyers adhere to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure.”
Anyone who believes that a lawyer has violated the rules of the State Bar Association can file a complaint with the Chief Disciplinary Board Office.

Law & Crime reported that Davis denied any wrongdoing in an Instagram post.
“For those of you who claim I was trying to ‘invade the Capitol’, it’s obvious from all of my history that I was demonstrating peacefully,” wrote Davis, according to the vehicle. “They injected gas into the whole crowd that was there with me. I was not trying to get in. I was just talking to the police and praying for them ”.
In a follow-up post, Davis allegedly added that he did not mean anything violent by saying that they were “trying to get on the capitol”, but that he was discussing the protest.
“The Twitter video is out of context, just as they are with all conservative patriots,” he said.
Davis’s Instagram account has since become private. He did not immediately return several requests for comment from FOX News.
