Texas Governor Greg Abbott shoots at Biden for “Neanderthal” observation

Texas Governor Greg Abbott fired on President Biden on Thursday for accusing him and other leaders of the red state of “Neanderthal thinking” for suspending the mandates of the COVID-19 mask – insisting that it is the president who has a primitive political logic.

In an interview with Fox and Friends, Abbott shot Biden after more than 100 illegal immigrants who tested positive for coronavirus were released by the Border Patrol in the Lone Star State.

“First of all, it’s obviously not the kind of thing the president should say,” said Abbott on the program. “But, secondly, he kind of said that on the worst day he could have, because on the same day he said that in Texas, the Biden government was releasing illegal immigrants into our communities that had COVID.”

He added: “The Biden government was exposing the Texans to COVID. This is a Neanderthal approach to dealing with the COVID situation. “

Abbott blamed “the Biden government’s lack of restraint in testing and quarantining people who cross the border illegally.”

Felipe Romero, a spokesman for the border city of Brownsville, told Fox News on Wednesday that the Border Patrol is telling migrants with a positive test to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to quarantine and maintain social distance. , but that Brownsville does not have the authority to prevent them from traveling to the rest of the country.

The fiery shuttle came after Biden criticized the “Neanderthal thinking” of Republican governors who suspended COVID-19 mask mandates in Texas and Mississippi on Wednesday.

“The last thing, the last thing you need is for the Neanderthal to think that while everything is fine, take off your mask,” he told reporters.

But on Thursday, Abbott defended the move, telling CNBC that Texans already know that “the safe standard, among other things, is to wear a mask”.

“Do they really need the state to tell them what they already know about their personal behavior?” Said Abbott.
