Texas DPS mistakenly sends an Amber Alert email with ‘Chucky’ listed as a suspect

TEXAS – The Texas Department of Public Security is apologizing for an Amber Alert that was released with the photo of the murderous doll from the 1988 horror movie “Child’s Play”.

In a suspicious photo attached to an email sent to Texas Alerts subscribers last Friday, Chucky was identified as a kidnapping suspect.

The alert would have been sent to subscribers’ emails three different times.

Amber Alert described Chucky as a 28-year-old man, 16 pounds, 1 meter tall, with red hair and blue eyes. It said he was wearing blue denim overalls with a striped long sleeve shirt of various colors.

The alert noted that he was “wielding a huge kitchen knife”.

The DPS listed her race as “Other: Doll”.

So who was it that Chucky “kidnapped”? The alert featured another character in the film franchise as a victim.

The DPS described the victim as 5-year-old Glen, who they said was wearing a blue shirt with a black collar at the time of her disappearance.

The warning said that Glen disappeared in Henderson, Texas, on January 28.

The DPS has since apologized, saying in a statement to KENS 5 San Antonio that the alert was a “test defect”.

Child’s Play creator Don Mancini joked that he and Chucky’s partner Tiffany were desperately looking for the doll.
