The Texas Department of Public Security generated some attention when it accidentally issued AMBER alerts to two Child’s play characters from the movie franchise.

On Friday, missed alerts for the Texas Department of Public Security included the killer doll, Chucky, and his son, Glen Ray. Glen is described as having a blue shirt and black collar, while Chucky would be wearing “blue denim overalls. with multicolored striped long-sleeved shirt “and” wielding a huge kitchen knife “.

The local NBC affiliate found that it was actually the result of a test that went wrong. The Department of Public Security was testing its server when it accidentally made these false alerts public. Still, he assured the public that the number on the pamphlets does not work.

“In fact, this was a test that we were running on a development server and it came out accidentally,” said Ruben Medina of DPS. “Thanks for contacting us to verify this. We apologize for this inconvenience (for) you.”

The AMBER Alert System started in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. It is a system for connecting broadcasters with local police departments to help locate missing / kidnapped children. AMBER stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response, which is an acronym created in memory of Amber Hagerman. Hagerman, 9, was kidnapped while riding a bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and murdered in 1996.
