One of the main reasons why Texas chose to part ways with Tom Herman was the drop in recruitment. The 2021 group finished as the 17th class in the country and the second in the Big 12, behind Oklahoma.
Now that coach Steve Sarkisian has taken over, recruiting has been instantly revitalized. The momentum started just a day after the Sarkisian national championship victory with Alabama, when four-star wide receiver Armani Winfield announced his commitment on January 12.
In his first month on the Forty Acres, Sarkisian managed a total of five appointments for class 2022 and is currently classified as class No. 7 in the country according to 247Sports.
The coaching staff recently released the cycle motto as # 22EFFECT. Sarkisian is aware that this recruitment class will have a lasting effect on the foundation he is building with the Longhorns.
