Texans add third quarterback amid Deshaun Watson controversy: report

The Houston Texans acquired another quarterback amid allegations of sexual assault and commercial drama surrounding Deshaun Watson.

The Texans received Ryan Finley from Cincinnati Bengals in an exchange on Friday, the NFL Network reported. The Bengals were reportedly scheduled to release him, but ended up sending him to Houston.

With the reported exchange, Houston would have three defenders on its roster – Watson, Finley and Tyrod Taylor, with whom the team signed a one-year contract earlier in the week.

The Bengals selected Finley in the fourth round of the 2019 draft. He had a solid academic career at NC State, but was not exactly praised when he joined the NFL.

TEXANS INK POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT DESHAUN WATSON

In two seasons, he ended up playing eight games, starting with four of them. He totaled 638 passing yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. He won one of his four games.

Houston appears to be adding contingency plans in case the organization needs to release or change Watson.

Watson is said to have asked to be negotiated, although Texan officials have publicly said they plan to keep him as a proprietor. But things fell into disarray this week when Watson was charged in several cases of sexual misconduct and harassment.

Watson denied the initial allegations on Tuesday, but six lawsuits followed.
