Tesla’s new Model S will apparently play Witcher 3 on an integrated 10 teraflop gaming platform

If you can’t find a PS5 or Xbox Series X, how about a $ 80,000 electric sports car with comparable performance? Tesla has just announced its updated S model today, and a new “Plaid” powertrain is not its only performance enhancement – the company says the car can now compete with next-generation game consoles, thanks to a computer for 10 teraflop games that apparently come with each new model.

Assuming this refers to the performance of the GPU and Tesla is not exaggerated, this can in fact be competitive with a PS5 or Xbox Series X, which offers 10.28 teraflops and 12 teraflops of GPU gross power, respectively. However, performance is more than teraflops.

Now, you may ask: who is going to put a game in your car that can really take advantage of a gaming PC? For this, I must ask you to look closely at the images above and below. See: acclaimed CD Projekt sword launching adventure The Witcher 3, exactly as Musk predicted:

Here are some things we don’t know yet:

  • IS The Witcher 3 really coming to Tesla, and when? (We asked CD Projekt.)
  • Can you play it on the main 17 inch and 2200 x 1300 pixels screen or just the second line of the 8 inch screen? Or both?
  • Will you need a new controller? (Tesla says it has “wireless controller compatibility”, but that’s all we know.)
  • Who is making the GPU? (We ping Nvidia and AMD.)
  • Who will sit in your $ 80,000 sports car and play a game of over 70 hours? (fingers crossed to save to the cloud)
  • Why not Cyberpunk? (Okay, this is a joke.)

You can see the claims for yourself on the Tesla’s Model S website, although they are a little buried: you have to go to the store, scroll down to “Interior” and click on “Feature details”.

Tesla has been bringing games to its cars for some time: we tried Tesla Arcade on a Model 3 in 2019, and both at the first level Cuphead and a karaoke mode in the car came to the company’s car software later that year. Fallout Shelter was added to cars last year.
