Tesla raises prices for its cheapest and most expensive electric vehicles

Tesla raised the prices of its cheapest and most expensive electric vehicles in a silent overnight update to its online configurator.

Unlike most automakers that distribute their vehicles through dealerships that ultimately decide the price of cars, Tesla has its entire distribution system and has uniform prices in each market.

But that uniform price has historically been subject to change, especially in the United States.

Tesla made several price changes to the Model 3 and Model Y just 3 weeks ago and is now back.

Tesla Model 3 prices

In an update to the online configurator located by Electrek, Tesla increased the price of the Model 3 Standard Range Plus, the automaker’s cheapest vehicle, by $ 500.

The automaker also lowered the price of the 3 Long Range AWD model by the same proportion.

Here are all the changes in the prices of the Model 3 for the different finishes:

  • Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus: the price went from $ 36,990 to $ 37,490
  • Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD: the price went from $ 46,990 to $ 46,490
  • Tesla Model 3 performance: the price went up from $ 55,990 and remained the same

Tesla Model S prices

Prices for the Model S remained largely unchanged after being updated in January after the launch of the updated flagship sedan, but had a slight update today.

The Model S Plaid Plus received a significant price increase from $ 10,000 to $ 149,000.

Here are all the current prices of the Model S for the different finishes:

  • Tesla Model S Long Range AWD: the price was $ 79,990
  • Tesla Model S Plaid: the price was $ 119,990 for
  • Tesla Model S Plaid +: the price went from $ 139,990 to $ 149,990

The Model S received price increases across the board when Tesla started taking orders for the new version of the vehicle, but the finishes on the electric sedans have also changed.

The Model S Performance became the Plaid and Tesla launched the new Plaid +, which has just increased the price, but this version of the electric vehicle will not go into production until the end of this year.

It will be powered by Tesla’s new structural battery and 4680 battery cell architecture.

Combined with Tesla’s new Palladium tri-engine powertrain, the automaker is claiming some impressive specs, including the fastest quarter mile of any production car of all time:

  • The fastest 0-60 mph and 1/4 mile acceleration of any production car ever
  • 0-60 mph: <1.99s
  • 1/4 mile: <9.0 s
  • Over 1,100 horsepower
  • Three high-performance engines with carbon-coated rotors
  • Torque vectoring

The Model S Plaid + must also have more than 520 miles of range on a single charge.

Tesla Model Y and Model X prices

At the time of writing (midnight), Tesla has not changed prices for Model Y and Model X, but the update may still be in progress.

As we reported earlier, Tesla recently removed the Model Y Standard Strip from its online configurator.

Tesla also did not offer a Plaid + version of the Model X.
