Tesla ordered recall of 12,300 Model X EVs for a loose finish issue

KBA, Germany’s motor vehicle regulator, told Tesla to recall approximately 12,300 Model X vehicles worldwide due to problems with finish adhesives. According Roadshow, The KBA said the mold could come loose and cause parts of the trim to fall, which can cause a serious accident if it happens while the car is in motion.

The problem affects cars built between 2015 and 2016, according to the traffic authority. Tesla announced a recall in November for more than 9,000 Model X cars in the U.S. due to concerns about the adhesive on the roof trim. It is not clear whether the two recalls revolve around the same problem.

It emerged earlier this month that Tesla will recall about 135,000 Model X and Model S EVs under pressure from NHTSA. The recall, which begins at the end of next month, was announced due to an eMMC flash storage problem that could cause the touchscreen to fail.
