Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) The Model S and Model X have long had a feature called biological weapon defense mode. When activated, the car creates positive pressure inside, so that the air cannot enter through any slits in the doors and brings all the air to the car through a HEPA filter. This allows occupants to breathe fresh air, regardless of what the surroundings offer.
Until now, this mode has not been available on the low-cost Model 3 and Model Y. CEO Elon Musk said that The model 3 had no space for a large enough filter.
But now some pictures posted by Tesmanian show that the Y model made in China will come with the biological weapon defense mode. The images show the feature enabled in the car, describing the filter as being as large as the Model X.
Benzinga’s opinion: While anyone can appreciate this feature, the Chinese market can appreciate it more, with citizens often worrying about air quality. During the forest fires in California, the owners praised the way of defense with biological weapons, saying that it saved them from the smoke. In areas of high pollution, this option can be a literal lifesaver.
