SpaceX and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) CEO Elon Musk appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast for the third time and with a lot to share.
What happened: During Thursday’s interview, Musk shared with Rogan his thoughts on what a Tesla van might look like.
“Since you have a large, flat area, this is where solar energy can start to make sense,” Musk told Rogan.
“You can also have a roof where it is solar and then, when it is standing, it goes out and provides shade, and maybe triples its area or something.”
The Tesla boss assumed that the configuration of an EV van’s solar panel could carry enough “where you start doing 30 miles a day”.
Rogan’s last interview with Musk is available now at Spotify Technology SA (NYSE: SPOT).
Why does it matter: During the EV giant’s fourth quarter earnings conference call on January 27, the Tesla boss told shareholders: “I think Tesla will definitely make an electric van at some point.”
The idea of an EV van may seem obvious at first, but the battery technology and cell supplies available today are not advanced enough for a van to become a reality in the short term. Tesla did not launch an EV van.
