Tesla Model S with Yoke Volante hits the public roads: first analysis

A Tesla Model S with a Yoke steering wheel was caught in the jungle, giving the audience a first look at Tesla’s futuristic steering column.

A Deep Blue Metallic Model S with a revamped interior, including the wraparound wooden door trim, revised instrument panel display and horizontal central touchscreen, and Tesla’s highly anticipated Yoke steering wheel, was located in downtown Redwood City in Silicon Valley on Saturday.

Photos captured by the Kilowatts reveal a Model S with license plates from the manufacturer, indicating that the company may be in the final stages of public testing before launching the updated steering wheel design for production vehicles.

Notable in the photos of the Yoke steering wheel is the absence of a traditional rod and Tesla’s familiar double scroll wheels. Although Tesla introduced the capacitive touch functions in illustrations for the Model S and Model X update steering wheel, the markings for the direction indicators and steering functions were not visible on the launch candidate that was found.

What appears to be a production-ready driver and passenger section of the Model S, a refined rear passenger area, lined with Tesla’s famous white Vegan interior and highlighted by the company’s latest rear touch screen, was clearly evident.

In the photos shared by The Kilowatts, you can also see the button for folding the Model S’s split rear seats, along with a more prominent side repeater camera.

Tesla unveiled new images of the Model S and Model X updated from 2021 earlier this year, after months of speculation that the company was updating the aged interior design of its flagship vehicles.
