Tesla hailed as the most appreciated vehicle brand in the Consumer Reports study

Data from Consumer Reports’ owner’s satisfaction survey revealed that American electric car maker Tesla is the most appreciated car brand in the United States. The findings were collected from the consumer protection firm’s Annual Automobile Survey 2020, which involved 369,000 vehicles from various car brands.

Car owners were asked a number of questions in the study, although the most important question asked respondents whether they would buy their vehicle again if they had the chance, considering its price, performance, reliability, comfort, fun and so on. Tesla was finally hailed as the most popular brand, with the EV maker scoring a total of 88 points out of 100.

Interestingly, the Consumer Reports survey showed vehicle owners across Tesla’s existing lineup, consisting of Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y. This was not true for other automakers. Hyundai owners, for example, provided enough data for just five specific vehicles, despite the South Korean automaker selling far more than five models in the United States.

The fact that the entire Tesla line received extremely high marks speaks volumes about the EV manufacturer’s strong customer base. This is especially noteworthy considering that Consumer Reports’ reliability scores ranked Tesla at the bottom of its list, due to the Model X falcon doors and infotainment system, as well as the Model S handles and suspension.

Interestingly, Lincoln, which follows Tesla as the second most appreciated car brand in the United States, also scored poorly in Consumer Reports’ reliability survey. The reverse is true for brands like Buick, with the automaker having high reliability ratings but low owner satisfaction. Some brands, like Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, scored poorly on reliability and owner satisfaction.
