Terraria dev says that the launch of Stadia will now proceed after resolving the conflict with Google • Eurogamer.net

He cites “the hard work the Stadia team has done”.

Earlier this month, after a public fight with Google, studio Terraria Re-Logic announced it was halting the development of the version of the game Stadia. However, it is now decided to reverse that decision and development will continue.

Events peaked earlier this month when Re-Logic founder Andrew Spinks protested Google on Twitter after his account was disabled for three weeks without explanation – preventing access to his Google Play library, data from Google Drive, YouTube channel and Gmail.

“I absolutely did nothing to violate your terms of service, so I can’t understand it any other way than if you decide to burn this bridge,” he wrote. “Consider burnt out. Terraria for Google Stadia has been canceled. My company will no longer support any of its platforms going forward.”

In a new update posted on the Terraria forum, however, Re-Logic announced that the Stadia version will be released after all. “As you may have noticed, we had a ton of problems starting the year, stemming from the blocking of Redigit’s entire Google account in early January,” he wrote. “After a month of pressure (and with the immense support of our fans), Google finally got in touch and was able to provide a lot of transparency regarding the situation and restore access to all of our accounts.”

“Due to the hard work the Stadia team has done – as well as our partners at 505 Games – we have decided that we will allow the next release of Terraria on Google Stadia,” the statement continued. “The construction of Terraria Stadia is based on the construction of DR Studios 1.4.0.5 (newer) and is currently on Google for certification review.”

There is no news when Terraria for Stadia will be released, but it is encouraging to see the problem resolved relatively quickly. Stadia, of course, recently stopped all internal game development, which means that it is now absolutely critical for it to strengthen relationships with outside studios.
