Tennessee shocks South Carolina, Indiana beats Michigan on busy women’s basketball night

The Battle of the Big Ten came to be fought twelve times, but No. 14 Indiana overthrew No. 11 Michigan, 70-65.

Ali Patberg was unstoppable in the attack, dropping three and attacking the basket to lead the Hoosiers with 21 points. Patberg threw 8 in 18 from the ground and 3 in 4 from beyond the arc. Overall, the Hoosiers scored nine to three with the help of Aleksa Gulbe, who knocked down four to three and finished with 13 points. Indiana hit 50 percent of the arc.

After a goalless first half, Grace Berger scored 10 of Indiana’s 19 points in the fourth period. Eight of these points came from the free-throw line, which determined the game in the final stretch. Berger finished with 16 points.

Michigan won the painting battle, overcoming the Hoosiers by 32-14, as well as winning on the glass by 42-28. That’s credit to Naz Hillmon, who had a double-double performance scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Leigha Brown had 19 points, but it was not enough to make up for the Wolverines’ 15 losses. Indiana gained 20 points from Michigan’s mistakes.
