NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – The Tennessee Department of Health has reported 14,395 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 additional deaths in the past 48 hours. The state released data for the past two days on Saturday due to the Christmas holiday.
The December 25 update showed an additional 9,230 cases and 5 deaths.
The December 26 update showed 5,165 additional cases and 7 deaths.
The Department said the limited number of reported deaths was due to the holiday.
This brings the state’s total case count to 560,892. So far, 6,443 residents of Tennessee have lost their lives to the virus.
The state also recorded 14,006 recoveries in the past 48 hours.
There are currently 2,819 hospitalized patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Earlier today, the Metro Public Health Department reported 793 more cases of COVID-19 in Nashville in the past 24 hours.
Today’s update for COVID-19 is abbreviated, showing only the number of new cases and new deaths. Metro will release a similarly abbreviated update tomorrow, before returning to full reports on Monday.
No new deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
