Telegram is now the most downloaded app from the Google Play Store

The loss of WhatsApp is the gain of Telegram. Since WhatsApp announced its new privacy policy, users have found peace in other messaging apps, including Telegram and Signal. While there was a lot of conjecture about WhatsApp’s privacy policy, users found other apps more reliable and secure before WhatsApp could even explain their case. However, Telegram seems to have benefited greatly from this sudden change in WhatsApp users.

According to the latest report from the sensor tower, Telegram has become the most downloaded app from the Google Play Store. Telegram went from ninth to first place on the Google Play Store. It is the fourth most downloaded application on the Apple App Store. And if we look at general downloads, Telegram also ranks first here.

“Telegram was the most downloaded non-game application worldwide in January 2021, with over 63 million installations, 3.8 times the number of downloads in January 2020. Countries with the largest number of installations of Telegram were India with 24 percent, followed by Indonesia with 10 percent The complete ranking of the top 10 non-game applications worldwide by downloads is up in January 2021. Application download estimates are from the platform Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence, ”said the Sensor Tower report.

The largest number of downloads came from India, with 24%. TikTok has become the second most downloaded application, despite facing a ban in India.

“TikTok was the second most installed non-game related application worldwide in the past month, with almost 62 million installations. The countries with the largest number of TikTok installations were Douyin, China, with 17%, followed by the United States with 10%. Signal, Facebook and WhatsApp completed the five most installed non-game applications worldwide in the month, “said the report.

Telegram has now made it easier for users to export their WhatsApp chat to Telegram. Explaining the feature, Telegram said: “More than 100 million new users joined Telegram in January, looking for more privacy and freedom. But what about messages and memories that remain in older applications? Starting today, everyone can bring their chat history, including videos and documents to Telegram, from apps like WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk. This works for both individual and group chats.
