Telegram becomes the most downloaded application in the world

WhatsApp and the telegram come under the title of messaging apps. But there are countless reasons why users today start using Telegram instead of WhatsApp. And today, Telegram has become the most downloaded application in the world. The application has also surpassed Tiktok in terms of popularity.

In January 2021, Telegram had 63 million downloads, making it the most downloaded application of all time. And India is the most downloaded country with 24 percent, followed by Indonesia with 10 percent. This means that more than 15 million installations come from India alone.

A few months ago, people didn’t even know what the Telegram app is. But, Telegram’s fate changed overnight when the Facebook application, Whatsapp, decided to change its privacy policy. WhatsApp also gave users an ultimatum that they would have to accept updates to the privacy policy or their accounts would be deleted. WhatsApp has said it will share a lot of data with Facebook and third-party developers. The news was obviously not good for users.

Speaking of Telegram, it has been using open source since it was launched in 2013 and its chats are encrypted. In addition, Telegram is a peer-to-peer blockchain technology that primarily emphasizes usernames rather than cell numbers, unlike WhatsApp. Therefore, the risk of releasing your personal contact information remains attributable only to your telegram usernames. Your phone number will not be revealed to anyone.

Some of the other benefits of Telegram are: Nobody can add you to the group, unless you allow it, by changing the configuration and, after you leave a group, the administrator will not be able to add you, unless you join again voluntarily. The best part is that you can use Telegram without having a smartphone with the help of Telegram Web. We can also edit and delete our message and it will be reflected on the phone of all members.

You can also transfer your old WhatsApp chat to Telegram very easily on Android:

  • Open a chat on WhatsApp and tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner.
  • Touch Export chat> select Telegram from the Share menu.
  • You will be asked to restore with or without media. Select the option according to your preference.
