Tekken 7 New Poland Character

Bandai Namco has revealed that Tekken 7 will add a new character, Poland’s prime minister in the Tekken universe, as their newest DLC character soon.

Bandai Namco sparked a new Tekken 7 (PS4, Xbox One, PC) character from Poland at the 2nd annual round table of fighting game publishers in Japan. Katsuhiro Harada explained that he had this idea because Poland had several women as prime minister in its history. So they wanted to add one Tekken. It was obviously not named or based on a royal prime minister.

This new character will be released in the early spring of 2021.

Harada also said he is collaborating with the Polish embassy in Japan for the character. He also went to Poland in 2020. Everything he was supposed to go there was canceled with corona, tournaments and everything, so he just did some sightseeing. Harada joked: “I spent Bandai Namco’s money and didn’t pay anything out of my pocket”. He mentioned that he has several connections with embassies like that.

In the stream, Harada said that additional details and a real revelation of the new character from Poland will come later.

The small teaser trailer of the new Tekken 7 Poland’s character can be found below. The character speaks real Polish, like everyone Tekken the characters speak the language of their country of origin. The trailer started at timestamp 1:26:21 on the Japanese stream.

As a side note, in the stream just before the trailer was revealed, Harada jokingly explained how many Capcom developers or players like Tokido end up doing a “Vega pose” in their photos.

Overall, Harada kept playing like that all over the stream and it was definitely fun to watch. If you only knew Japanese, at least. As the English flow had several sound problems at the beginning. The Japanese broadcast also had its share of problems, with some trailers playing without sound. Or Ishiwatari Daisuke’s microphone being incredibly bad. At the end of the day, though, it’s important to keep in mind how miraculous this round table thing is in the first place. Although fighting game developers have always known each other, we would never see them talking publicly like that in the past.

Harada also recently shared that he would like to make a sequel to Pokken one day.

Tekken 7 is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
